Restless: Offering no physical or emotional rest; involving constant activity or motion. Different people define “Home” in different ways. For some Home is where you are born and brought up. For others Home is where your parents, your loved ones live. No matter where they would be in the world. Home is always something they can come back to. But there are some like me who consider home as “Where I am”. No matter which city, state, country I am in, home for me is the place I go back to at the end of the day.  This leads to some very confusing scenarios quite often, when people ask: “So when are you going home?” and I answer.. maybe in another 30 minutes.  They expect me to reply with a date/month of my next vacation when I would be going back to my family. But I end up telling them when I would be going back to the place which they consider as a house but I consider as “Home”. 11 years ago, during my first few days on the Internet, I had ended up creating an Id calle...

Rainbow Bridge

Image
On one side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your ...

5% - Thats all you have left

Image
So as usual this post is straight from another one of my Emails.  This time around to some of my colleagues/friends who are too lazy to go out on weekends. ( Background Info: We are all approx. 27 Years old ) Assuming that you live for 75 Years. You will have about 3910.714 weekends in your life to relax/enjoy. ( Or in you guys cases release/work ) Now assume that you are 27 Years old. ( Some a bit more, others a bit less ) You have already gone through 36% of those weekends that you get in your life. Once you get married let’s say at 30 ( too late I know ) after that your weekends don’t belong to you. So as of now you have: 3~4 years more of weekends left with you.  Or in other words you just have 5% of your entire lives weekends left with you for yourself, before they belong to someone else. So every weekend when you decide, “I will stay in, not do anything” Just think about what you are losing? - Choudhary Baba ka Friday Gyaan THIS IS COSMIC BLASTI...

Can you believe it !! he was back home Back from the war But.. what is this ? .. Why is he not coming over to me.. Why does he not greet me and take me with him on a long walk Why is he sitting on that chair with wheels, being pushed around by others THIS IS COSMIC BLASTING OFF !!!!!!!!

Sign Language

Image
Today while riding to work, I saw a little girl standing on the footpath on the side of the road, with a school bag on her back, probably waiting for her bus. She was standing all alone in the bustling crowd, with a very depressed expression on her face lost to the world staring at her feet. I was stuck in traffic at this time ( Yeah its Bangalore ) and couldn’t move. For a moment she looked up probably to search for her bus and we ended up staring at each other. I had this urge to go and ask her what was wrong, why was she gloomy what was worrying her? But due to the traffic and me being in the middle of the road on a bike and she up on the footpath, that didn’t seems a viable possibility.  The Signal turned green, I moved on, but a thought was stuck in my head. What if everyone in the world knew Sign Language? Wouldn’t it be much easier to communicate with each other?  You wouldn’t need to be within hearing distance of each other, if you can see the other pers...

Serenity

Image
Riding down the busy street with absolutely no sense of the crowd, hullabaloo and the people around you. Riding in a trance, where movements come naturally to every part of the body as and when necessary. When the sub-conscious takes over and the mind is in a blissful calm taking no decisions, performing no permutations, no computations. Not thinking ahead.. Not thinking about the past.  Only the present moment. And a moment which is true unconditional harmony. The moment stretches itself. It seems endless. Like an eternal infinite journey with no destination in mind. It's only the moment which matters and the journey in which the moment dwells in.   THIS IS COSMIC BLASTING OFF !!!!!!!!

Do you want a Zombie ?

Frustration rises when expectation from other people rises too high. The heightened frustration level leads to the feeling of lashing out against them  But when some thought is given to the reasons behind the people's indifference to your expectations; Sanity prevails. Everyone has their own story and life and no one is bound to behave the way you want them to. If they did always did things so as to make you happy. They wouldn't be individuals on their own and turn into Zombies. So my dear friend. It's Ok.  I will learn how to prevail and live on. THIS IS COSMIC BLASTING OFF !!!!!!!!

Codependency

I have been reading lots of Wedding Cards and stories about many people getting married within a year or two of a relationship. How is that a good idea? Did they realize that they didn't care what happened in life as long as they had each other. This just seems like the socially driven concept of love, when it ( at least for me ) isn't an accurate representation at all.  With all forms of media beating down on us it's really easy to submit to the idea that you'll be so much happier with a man or woman in your life. So many movies, songs, and books are about, or include, this kind of love. It's a sort of the quick-fix mentality that seems to be plaguing modern culture.  Not happy? Getting married / in a relationship will make you happy!  I think more people need to realize, that love is simply what you have with a best friend. Someone you don't need to be around you to be happy, but whom with you always enjoy company.  Someone you trust with...

The Friend Zone

Image
Couple of weeks ago during a random conversation the topic of Friend Zone and came up and I was surprised that people are not aware of ( the dangers of ) Friend Zone.  So for the benefit of fellow Human Race ( mostly Guys I guess ) let me try and describe what this weird phenomena is. "Friend zone" describes the way most women stop seeing a male friend as dating material after a certain amount of time has passed, even though she might have begun dating them had he acted differently when they first met. Say there is a man called Rahul of average attractiveness and a woman called Priya.  Rahul meets Priya.  Priya thinks "This guy seems nice. He's quite funny and reasonably good looking".  Rahul doesn't ask Priya out, but they see each other at social functions.  After a while, Priya stops seeing Rahul as a nice guy who is quite funny and reasonably good looking, and just sees him as My Friend Rahul. But oh no! Rahul realizes he's secretly...

Searching for Passion

Image
I am currently reading a Book, In The Plex: How Google Thinks, Works, and Shapes Our Lives by Steven Levy.  When I started the book I had a preconception that this book would be about the two finders, how the company came along and blah blah.. Just like the many other books/articles I have read about Google till now. So far I am only in the Second Chapter of the Book ( so this is in no ways a book review ), but the book has thrown up some surprises already. For a large part it is not only about the founders of Google, but also about the people behind the scenes, who we ( the normal junta ) never hear of. Who helped make what the company is today. A group of people who are enthusiastic about what they do. They love their work and want to change the world with that they can accomplish.  It’s this passion, this zeal, this fervor, this excitement that most of us lack.  Yesterday I was in a Google Developer Day Summit at Sydney, where I heard Tarjei Vassbotn give ...

I crave for Mediocrity

Image
Mediocre  Ordinary  Unexceptional  Typical Some of the classifications which we all want to break free of. Everyone wants to make their mark in this world. To stand out from the crowd. To Boldly go where No Man/Woman has gone before. I have a friend who inspires me to think differently.  Her daily struggle is to be Ordinary, not to stand out from the crowd. She craves to be one of the millions of faces who you forget as soon as you see them. She desires no special attention. She wants to be just one of the Gang. Honouring her wishes, I will not share her profile or her blog link here, as I would be then doing the exact opposite of what she wants. She is an Autistic and an ORDINARY human being. You know who you are. P.S. : Just a humble request to all. Treat everyone as your equal and as Bill and Ted said: Be Excellent to each other . THIS IS COSMIC BLASTING OFF !!!!!!!!

Whatever comes the Easiest

Image
As usual , his SPAM Folder was full of offers where people from Africa and Oil Rich Countries were ready to transfer all their fortune to him. He had again won about 2346 different lotteries. And he also had many lucrative job offers from companies in different countries and all he had to do was transfer 100$ to them for paper processing. But then one such SPAM mail caught his attention, It wasn’t so different from the others in the folder. Nor did it have the single shred of authencity about it. But the name of the Company in the Subject line caught his fancy.  ( The Spammer of-course had no connection to the company what-so-ever ) It was the same Company which he had admired since his days in the University.  The same company which he aspired to work with since the day he had touched the wonderful and magical machine. But then, he knew that he won’t do anything about it. He had always been taking the easy way out. Instead of chasing behind his dr...

What makes you content in life ?

Image
Another day and another post taken from one of my Emails to my colleagues. This post was a response to an Email from my boss: " What makes you content in life.. Money..Achievements & Recognition (Awards )..Or the smaller things ..like the cliched ‘good bottle of wine and a good book/movie’ or writing defect less code , going on crazy & adventurous trips etc And more importantly ..when do you think you are content..Will you be able to realise it when you get there…will you stop your “Search for Happyness " My Reply is below: ( There might be lots of typos and grammatical mistakes, which I don't want to correct, as this mail was written in the heat of the moment and I think should remain so. ) Content/Happiness/Satisfaction… Is a very nimble and rapidly changing State of mind This state of Satisfaction varies with Time and situation in life. A Normal Human being ( including me ) I can’t put a finger on a commodity, an achievement or a state if mind a...

A Simple Man

Image
He was the Driver at the small village hospital where my dad was posted as a Doctor. His job was to drive the Ambulance, the Government Hospital Jeep and every feasible/available vehicle at the hospital. When I was a kid he was my best friend, as who else to run to but the “Driver Uncle”. The Uncle who can take you for free joy rides around the village, drop you off to school occasionally when you are running late ( which was very often ).  Take you to the sweet shop to get Samosa-Jalebi in the evenings. Come to pick you up at the small village bus-stand when you get back from your journeys. He was a simple man, with a simple small family.  One son and one daughter, who were both elder to me. ( My playmates ) He was very resolute about their education and extremely strict when it came to their homework or exam. Being a kid I never understood the reason behind this. For me he was dragging away my friends from the playground when we were just getting into the fina...

The Boy with the Blue eyes

Image
The young man wiped his brow with his handkerchief for what seemed like the 100th time.  His palms were sweaty.  The T-Shirt which proclaimed loud and clear of “Being Human” was already drenched in sweat. It seemed like the longest day of the year to him. He had hardly slept the night before in anticipation of the next day. And on the next day had woken up at 3 AM just after an hour of shutting his eyes. His head was throbbing with a headache the likes of which he had never experienced before. He kept on checking his mobile phone every couple of minutes for any new call or message, which would put him out of this misery. The cacophony around him was enough to drive anyone over the edge He was not alone.  He was surrounded by hundreds of others just like him, all jostling for the same goal.  Suddenly someone tugged at his jeans. He thought it was a pick-pocket and got ready to grab someone’s hand and punch him in the face. After all he already had his ...

The Silent Noose

Image
Happiness or Despair - (Call it sadness/depression if you want to). Am I the only one here who talks to himself ?  Oh No!! Wait. You right there with your hand on the touch-pad or the mouse, sitting on the chair, lying on your bed or hanging from the ceiling with a noose around your neck. I know you. I know you used to talk to yourself. You had wonderful and profound conversations with your inner-self, until that fateful day. When someone overheard you two talking. And since then the inner voice won't answer any of your questions. It has gone Silent. You have lost your best friend , some one who understood most of your problems, even though you two may not have agreed to everything , actually I remember all the arguments which you had. The late nights when you stayed up arguing about the cosmos, philosophy and anything under the sun. But now those days are loong gone. And that's the reason, I can see the noose is out and the voice is gone and dea...

Zenith to Nadir

Image
Dissatisfaction, Displeasure, Discontent, Frustration, Irritation, Annoyance, Anger – Some of the names of more or less the same feeling which can make a person Sad, Angry, Miserable, Depressed, Dejected, Disheartened . And the road that leads from one feeling to another can usually be very long or at times it is very short as well. You persevere for many years to achieve your goal and after various failures it can lead to losing hope. Or this feeling can be brought on at a moment’s notice when seeing someone or something, happy or sad, dreadful or beautiful. It can take you from the blissfulness of delight to the dearth of depression. And it does not always take melancholy to induce depression or vice versa. Despair is also brought on at times from pleasure. Another one of the unpredictable, volatile, fickle nuisances of the human psyche which we all hope to achieve control of one fine day THIS IS COSMIC BLASTING OFF !!!!!!!!

Position of Power

Image
No don't  be worried I am not going to be talking about Politics here. I am not a political person or support any parties etc etc. (More on that later) Right now what I want to talk to you about is something not very different from what a political party does when they have a vast majority in a democracy. They can be fearless and implement their own policies without being scared of their allies withdrawing support from them. (I know... I know I said I won't talk about politics and that's exactly what I am doing here) But as all my faithful readers know I write in one shot, i.e. once I start typing about something/or nothing at all, I don't pause or stop in between in thinking what I am writing about or ponder about the direction my post is moving along.  I laugh on the face of people who talk about the condition called Writer's Block.. (but again I digress) So getting back on topic, What according to me is a Position of Power. I would say when someone ho...

Go Live

Image
It's time to dish out some more useless gyaan for the day. The only commodity we have is time. Somewhere—in your mind, on a notepad, stashed in a virtual notebook—you have a list of things you'd like to be doing with your time before it all slips away. Do what you have to do to take those ideas out of storage and make them happen. You can trade and barter for a lot in life but you can never buy back time. Go live. Now do I follow these ideas which I preach. Like every great leader and guru - Of course not THIS IS COSMIC BLASTING OFF !!!!!!!!

The Animalistic attraction

Image
So, as promised sometime ago in one of my blog posts, this is the second part and completion to one of my earlier posts which I had left incomplete called " Santa is Screwed this year " <- Why the name? Dont' ask me, I have no idea. Last night I was talking to one of my friends and was preaching about something which you might call as the X Gene, the quality which makes some one the leader of the pack, the Alpha Male/Female. I like to call this the Animalistic attraction.  There are some people around us who always seem to be the centre of attraction in whatever they do or whatever situation they might be in. People just tend to follow them , they are selected as the leader in every venture no matter the scale.  They are always part of the group of people others want to be a part of. They build a following of their own without even trying. They might not realize their inner charm and charisma which they ooze out, but as in nature, the prey is attracted towards th...
