The Boy with the Blue eyes

Image
The young man wiped his brow with his handkerchief for what seemed like the 100th time.  His palms were sweaty.  The T-Shirt which proclaimed loud and clear of “Being Human” was already drenched in sweat. It seemed like the longest day of the year to him. He had hardly slept the night before in anticipation of the next day. And on the next day had woken up at 3 AM just after an hour of shutting his eyes. His head was throbbing with a headache the likes of which he had never experienced before. He kept on checking his mobile phone every couple of minutes for any new call or message, which would put him out of this misery. The cacophony around him was enough to drive anyone over the edge He was not alone.  He was surrounded by hundreds of others just like him, all jostling for the same goal.  Suddenly someone tugged at his jeans. He thought it was a pick-pocket and got ready to grab someone’s hand and punch him in the face. After all he already had his ...

The Curious Case of the Nimbu Lemon

Image
I have spent my childhood reading endless stories of Mr Holmes and his sidekick Dr Watson , of how Ms. Agatha Christie solves the most baffling of mysteries so easily. They have always inspired me to solve if not murder than at least the small everyday mysteries that surround us. ( Wow I have already used the word Mystery a lot . But again I DIGRESS) So getting back on topic on what I am calling as ' The Curious Case of Nimbu Lemon ' It all began one fine day when I started seeing a lot of posts on ( where else but ) Facebook about a funny picture which you can see below. I felt very angry and amazed at all my friends who were making fun of this simple road side vendor who was clearly onto something which we all the EDUCATED LOT didnt and couldn't comprehend.  I tried to convey my feelings by convincing the people who were making fun of ( what I was convinced was ) the sheer genius ( although no one knew how it was genius ) of this Humble man from India....

Wassa/What doing ?

Image
So this is a common question which I get asked or I ask multiple times a day. What are you doing ? One of the most common responses I have received or that I provide is “ Nothing ”.  But how is that possible ? How can someone at any point in their existence be doing Nothing or in other words Not be doing Anything. Speaking in Biological terms ( which I don’t know any )  We are always either awake or sleeping ( or few other conditions like High, Unconscious etc etc, But you get my drift ).  We are always breathing. We are always metabolizing. We are always thinking. ( Although in my case I doubt this one ) So the next time when I or someone tells you that they are doing Nothing, well they are LYING . For the few pious souls out there who do not know what a lie is, Please refer to the Stanford Encyclopaedia of Philosophy . We usually provide this response in two completely contradictory scenarios: When we would like nothing better then to chat with the Qu...

Ignorance

Image
DISCLAIMER : I know what Ignorance means, and in what context it needs to be used. But for this theory I use it in a non-contemporary way. If any of your grammar snobs out there have any issues please take it up with my lawyer . ‘ Annoying ’: A word defined as Causing vexation or irritation; troublesome. ‘ Ignore ’: Defined as Refuse to take notice of or acknowledge; disregard intentionally. I am presenting here today my theory of the different levels and extremities of the combination of these two above words and how they interlink and lead to one other So the least serious and most common appearance of this occurs when; the second word is usually a reaction as a direct action to the first word, i.e. when someone annoys/vexes/irritates you. You ignore that person. But what happens when the reaction transpires without the action. When there is no annoyance but when you act as a consequence of past experiences and inhibitions.  May be this can be called as a case of Ch...

Day to Day..

Image
Did I tell my readers that I gifted myself a new laptop this Christmas. If I didn't before, I am telling you now.  The layout of the keys on the new keyboard is very different from what I had before and so I had a lot of issues in typing on the new laptop. But now I have started to love to type on this new one. I love the feel of the keys on my finger tips. How they make this unique sound when I bang on them uselessly.  And its this satisfaction that I get from this new keyboard that I am sitting here on this Saturday evening trying to write something again. But why do we or more specifically I still say that 'I am writing something' .. Isn't  that incorrect ? Shouldn't I be saying that "I am typing something" ?  But then again I don't know , when it comes to doing something creative   (Yes I do consider my blog posts to be a creative work rather then non-sense, you might not agree with me but then again, I am not WRITING here to get your appr...

Happy Karimeen Day

Image
Time for the obligatory Valentines Day blog post. My Fan base of psychology students (across 4 continents) have been complaning that I have not written anything yet on V day and that they have been desperately refreshing my blog since morning (in their respective countries) hoping to read my insighful insights on the inside working of the human psyche and the various complicated emotions that it is capable of. Well guess what Mr.Chinese Chyropractor. You are going to be  disappointed. I do not comply to your wishes and as you are none the less familiar with one of my most famous and often quoted quotes. " I write what ever comes to my mind. And what often comes to my mind is Horse Manure " So all of you (It includes the retired Lawyer from Alabama and the house wife from GreenLand) who were expecting a mushy marshmallow of a post about love , sex and other ailments of the heart. You are going to be utterly dis-appointed today. But who knows, may be I will grant you...

Go Live

Image
It's time to dish out some more useless gyaan for the day. The only commodity we have is time. Somewhere—in your mind, on a notepad, stashed in a virtual notebook—you have a list of things you'd like to be doing with your time before it all slips away. Do what you have to do to take those ideas out of storage and make them happen. You can trade and barter for a lot in life but you can never buy back time. Go live. Now do I follow these ideas which I preach. Like every great leader and guru - Of course not THIS IS COSMIC BLASTING OFF !!!!!!!!

The City Beacon(s)

Image
Sometimes a city becomes a living organism. It develops a personality of its own. Myths develop about the city. People start relating it to their life, Hell it even becomes their life. They think they can't live anywhere else but there. People leave/change their jobs just so that they can stay in the same city. We Indians have a special attachment to places that we stay in, and this is more true then ever when we talk about ...where else but 'BOMBAY'. What can I have to say about the 'Maximum City' that hasn't already been said so. Better still, Who am I to talk about this city when I have never even stayed there. Maybe to the millions of residents of the city and my readers from the different parts of the world, I can dare to give a third party unbiased outside opinion about the city. Bombay is one of the few cities in India that is known the world over. Its our very own Big Apple, The City of Dreams, The (Indian) City that never Sleeps. The names give...
